Development of Transparent Braces

An Imperfect Prototype Became a Lasting Solution

Ortho-Tek, a manufacturer of dental braces, wanted to develop a transparent brackets project. After exploring an R&D avenue with another supplier, the efforts had not been successful. The main challenge was in shaping the plastic: it had to be heated, compressed, and then stabilized, as it only became rigid once cooled. The existing prototype die, initially designed with the other supplier, did not meet the client’s needs.

We took over and modified the prototype die step by step, in close collaboration with the client:

  • Progressive adjustments and reviews after each stage to optimize performance
  • Development of practical solutions to stabilize the part during cooling
  • Final manufacturing of 4 dies with 32 brackets each, in different sizes, to cover the entire desired range

This project enabled Ortho-Tek to obtain transparent brackets that met their needs, through a reliable and reproducible process. Fifteen years later, the client came back to us for a new project, demonstrating the trust built over time.

“Thanks to their progressive and collaborative approach, we were finally able to bring to life a project that was stagnant. Their expertise allowed us to move from idea to a lasting and effective solution.”
